Zurich and Seoul Blockchained (Scholarly Block)

Extra Zurich and Seoul Blockchained Scholarly Block

Blockchain and related technologies enable the storage of immutable records in a decentralised fashion, even in absence trust between system participants. Financial applications (like cryptocurrencies) are just the tip of the iceberg. They have not only disrupted multiple application fields, and but also created whole new ecosystems around them. Switzerland and South Korea (and more specifically the areas around Zürich and Seoul) are world-renowned hubs in the development of these disruptive technologies.

While opportunities around these technologies abound, there are also multiple challenges (technological, legal, and economic) that must be resolved. To such an aim, research and education must keep the pace of accelerated technological development. The outstanding academic communities of Zurich and Seoul help to push forward the area by bringing a necessary interdisciplinary approach to the area.

In this public, international workshop world-renowned scholars from Blockchain Center of the University of Zurich (the largest initiative in Switzerland), the host Sogang University – among others from Seoul – will discuss novel research applications in the field: sophisticated applications, the intersection of big data and economics, and legal and regulatory challenges.

The event will be opened by the Vice-President of University of Zurich, and representatives of the Sogang University.
