Dr. Robert Sumner is Adjunct Professor in Computer Science at ETH Zurich, Associate Director of Disney Research Studios and initiator of the Game Technology Center (GTC) at ETH Zurich. GTC uses advanced game technologies, like augmented reality, to add layers of playful interaction to fields such as learning, creativity, and culture. In this event, the GTC will present the Game Programming Lab, their capstone course on game programming, and highlight projects that use augmented reality to infuse magical interaction into traditional creative activities.
Dr. Joshua A. Jackman is an Assistant Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University where he leads the Translational Nanobioscience group. In addition to his research activities, one of his major passions is youth science and technology education and he has participated in DQ Institute activities for over a decade. He currently serves as a Strategic Advisor to the DQ Institute. He will present on the #DQEveryChild initiative, which is a strategic global movement to empower 8-12 year olds with digital citizenship through a gamified learning approach as well as introduce the development of DQ global standards.
The presentations will be followed by a live demonstration of an installation that transports visitors into a cutting-edge museum experience. State-of-the art augmented reality technology is leveraged to bring paintings to life and expose the colorful history behind valuable works of art.
