How will humans and intelligent machines communicate and collaborate? Artificial Intelligence (AI) is capturing the imagination of many people with its widespread application. Indeed, it may well be that personal digital assistants will simplify daily life in the work place and at home. For example, it will be convenient to have a smart home where AI keeps the fridge always full, and it will be fun to have AI which can translate foreign languages on the fly like the famous Babel fish from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. However, it is a different story when AI is applied to safety-critical environments like automotive or aviation. In these environments, humans play a vital role in guaranteeing system safety.
Through a panel of experts from Chung-Ang University (CAU) and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), this workshop will give various perspectives on how AI and other types of automation will change the role of the human in the future. Key questions that will be discussed include: how will humans and machines communicate and how will they collaborate? Will there still be a human in the loop or will we have fully automated systems (such as cars and aircraft) where safety and hence our lives will depend solely on the decisions of an intelligent machine? What are some of the emerging trends for applying AI in everyday business life operations? And how does AI contribute to the development of smart cities with a specific focus on Seoul and Zurich? The event will be “sweetened” with a networking lunch.
